eBay

eBay is a web page in which you can buy new or second hand articles, sell and auction.

This page was founded in 1995 by Pierre Omidyar and the first product was sold the same year. It was a broken laser pointer that someone bought for the price of 14,83 dollars. When Omidyar cantacted with the person who bought the laser and asked him if he understand what he had bought, the man said that he liked collecting broken laser pointers.

Seeing the succes of the page, Omidyar decided to make it public in 1999.

Nowadays, eBay is the owner of PayPal and Skype and it's valorated in more than 8.460 million dollars
